It's New Persian Year

Hey all,
It's my second post in this blog about Persian New Year!

If you have missed the last year post, check it out here: Persian New Year

I have some pictures to post (unfortunately they don't belong to me!) just to show you the overall mood and tradition and will explain about Hafs Siin (Seven S) and what they represent.

So, let's start of with Sabzeh سبزه (wheat or barely sprouts) symbolise Rebirth

Siib سیب (apple) symbolise Beauty and Health

Samanoo سمنو (sweet pudding made from wheat germ) symbolise Affluence

Siir سیر (garlic) symbolise Medicine

Senjed سنجد (dried oleaster fruit) symbolise Love

Serkeh سرکه (vinegar) symbolise Patience and Old-age

Somaq سماق (sumac) symbolise the color of Sunrise

Well, it's not all that we set on the table. We would also have :

Sonbol سنبل the fragrant hyacinth flower as it represent the Coming of Spring

Sekkeh سکه coins symbolise Prosperity

Decorate and painted Eggs  تخم مرغ رنگی that symbolise Fertility

A bowl of goldfish ماهی گلی that represent Life

A bowl of water and a bitter orange آب و نارنج which has quite scientific meaning of Earth "floating"
in space and also Mirror آیینه to represent Sky and Candles شمع\شمعدان which represent Fire.

Every year on 20 or 21st March (depends if it's a Leap Year or not) we wait for a specific moment to celebrate the new year. This year we say goodbye to 1390 and say hello to 1391 on Tuesday at 8:30:16 in Iran's time.

Isn't it fantastic that we have exact time each year to celebrate?
Thanks to Omar Khayyám who made our special and precise calendar long long time ago.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Oscar

Today, not only me, but I bet most Iranians started their day with a very good news!! We just won the very first Oscar prize for the film "A Separation" by Asghar Farhadi. You might get some ideas about this film from my previous post.
We're truly excited and moved by what he said on the stage:
Watch the moment HERE

Thank you for what you have done,
Thank you for what you said.

A Separation

Everyone's talking about it.
It became the hottest news specially among Iranian. Most people are feeling happy, proud and grateful and some... Just play with gossips and nonsense, which I really hate about some people!!

If you still don't know what I'm writing about. Check this video out. It's on Facebook but I think everyone can watch it there.

Golden Globes: 'A Separation' wins best foreign language film

And on Youtube, With Madonna:
A Separation, Iran Golden Globe Winner

Yes, the movie "A Separation" by Asghar Farhadi, Iranian film director. People who watched it, they either like it very much or else thinking it was kinda boring (!!!!).
The rating for this film, as I'm writing here, on IMDb is 8.6 given by 25,461 users !

It has been a winner 53 times worldwide. And the very last one was Golden Globes 2012 !!

I personally, loved everything about this movie. How it surprise you by each scene. You really can't predict what's going to happen next!! Even at the end, the director leaves you with a big question: "Who will Termeh ( the young daughter of Nader and Simin) choose to live with?". This is the biggest deal and I love the way we can decide by our own. It's so hard as it's for Termeh. Besides, the acting appeared so strong from each and every of the actors. From the youngest girl to the quiet grandpa. Leila Hatami (Simin), Peyman Moaadi (Nader) giving the best play as always.

I've tried to search for the full movie with English subtitle, but all I could get was this Norwegian/Danish (Sorry, I couldn't distinguish well!) one on Youtube in 12 parts.
Give it a try if you're native! :D

Jodaeiye Nader az Simin 2011 FULL movie.part 1/12

And this one, with Arabic Subtitle: ‫الفيلم الإيراني A Separation ‬‎

Or so, enjoy some of the pictures here:

He said "Iranian People are Peace Loving People".
Congratulations to Iranians. :)

22nd BIRTHDAY IDEA!

I was thinking of what to do for my coming birthday this year!

Last year, I did nothing special but having LOTs of Sushi and Japanese food for lunch that made me full (very full) for the whole day!! I couldn't have cakes coz it would make me explore on that special day (Just imagine!).

But this year, I think I got few more people around and closer friends that may help me make this day unforgettable.

I always liked those big parties with bunch of people, getting loud and crazy. But I'm not involved with the "ideal" group yet !! |_・)

So, I Googled about Birthday Ideas specially for the 22nd one.

I found interesting results and ideas. So far, people were recommending "themed party", or a "crazy night out for a movie, club, bowling" or whatever. "Making a trip or a short vacation" sounds really good to me, but hey! I'm still student!... (・_-。 )

Besides having party, cake, dinner and fun, I just thought of doing something related to the number 22 !!
The idea is, to learn 22 new words, names, places or etc... in any subject! It can be in ART, GEOGRAPHY, MUSIC, LANGUAGE, FOOD, CAR and and and...
doesn't it sound AMAZING??

Well, I'm excited about this and going to make my list for that day soon.

Give me suggestions if you have any. 。◕‿◕。
Cheers

What I'm up to

Hello fellows!

It's been long time since I uploaded a post here!!
I was quite busy, you might say.

Well, I had a trip back to my country for 2 months and didn't get any mood to update my blog! :p

And, it's been a month I've started my last year of degree study in Graphic Design.
Something that really made me busy is writing my dissertation proposal.
Although I'm in love with the topic I chose, it really makes me wonder. Jumping from one subject to another... and another... and another!
Guess what is about??
Yes, FASHION and PHOTOGRAPHY .
So, probably, I'll have a lot to talk about.
So far, one of the most interesting master piece and photographs belong to "ANNIE LEIBOVITZ". Words are so weak to describe her works! You might need a little Google search if you're not sure you know this talent or not!

And hopefully, I've founded some very good blogs and websites which are so helpful to get my informations accurately. Finding some photographers on Google+ is also great. I might set an email interview with some of them.

Let's see what will I do ☺

You Rock My World ♬

Well, today is 25th... 25th of June 2011. Two years ago, the whole world stopped for a while!... Out of shock!!... The most terrible news anyone could ever hear in their life... And repeating: "Michael Jackson's dead?????"...
It was shocking for the entire universe... No matter you were black or white, short or tall, boy or girl, man or woman, young or old, his fan or not... Everyone got shocked!

I didn't know him much when I heard that horrible news.
But I could remember him a little bit from my childhood! Few memories like watching his "Black or White" music video at my grandma's place brought by my uncle and being SO fascinated specially by the end shots where different faces changes to the next, smoothly and greatly!!... I was about 6-7 year old.

And remembering my brother having some of his songs but never let me listen to them as he said "it's not good for kids, there are some "bad words" in it!! (It's totally false, right??) And I couldn't understand his songs much coz I was not so good at English!

And also I remember, once my cousin was showing some music videos of him to us, we just could see a little bit of "You Are Not Alone" and she stopped it by the time Michael and Lisa were shown naked!! She told us they're wife and husband (And also believing it's harmful for kids to watch!!)... I was about 10.
Yeah, basically, I knew him visually more than knowing him verbally or in words.

My memories are coming from 90s mostly. When Michael was looking so HOT in those years! He was always cute, though.

And later, 2000 onward, I could see a little bit more, but could never ever understand him as I do now!... It's a shame and big regret for me, I missed knowing him when he was alive. I've started being one of his young fan maybe less than a year!... When he was gone! :(
I'm feeling bad about my misfortunate!... Sharing the same lifetime with him and not knowing him truly?? And I must confess I was manipulated by the DEVIL media as well unless I could discover the truth in recent time.
Why this people tried to destroy his life by making all the bullsh*ts around?? I seriously feel sorry for them!... You were the one who are FREAKS, not him!

Anyways, I know Michael just the true way he was; pure, innocent, caring, fun and the most loving person existing on this earth!... Thanks for sharing your heart and talent with us!... You were not only the King Of Pop, but also the King Of Hearts. You were too good to be here more! Heaven COULDN'T Wait.

Rest In Peace, Michael Dear Jackson ♥

The last project is over!

Yes... I can say my 2nd year of study is over now... Maybe not officially, but on my Monday I presented my last project. This project was somehow special, as we did some work for industry. We were given a brief to design 2 water bottles for BROS company. One for kids and 1 for adults.
It's a Malaysian company. If you are interested in this brand, you can visit their website or their Facebook fan page on:

http://www.bros.com.my/

https://www.facebook.com/brosnews?ref=ts

So, by next week, I'll have my 4 precious months of holidays!!!
That sounds awesome, right?
But the "renewing visa" process of mine, ruiend the whole atmosphere (I can say! :/)... Yeah, but, I'll make myself busy with doing some improvements on my skills such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash or even my drawing skill.... Hey, I forgot to mention Photography skills as well!!... It's good before I go for my next plan during this holiday! (I shall keep it secret now! ;) )
And yes, I got my dissertation proposal for next year as well! I got advice from my seniors to start being serious on this before I go to year 3 !! Otherwise, I would regret a lot !!
So, better start early than being regretful! ☺

Cheers~

Indian Wedding

Saturday night was an exciting night to me.
I attended the first ever Indian Wedding in my life.
Not to mention, I was going to a wedding ceremony after a very long time since I turned up at one! If I'm not wrong, the last one was my best friend's wedding in summer 2008 !!

So, anyways, the Indian Wedding.
It didn't take much time! Maybe 2 hours which included the ceremony, dinner and then guests lining-up to give their gifts and congrats to the bride and groom.

I can say, it was the most colourful wedding I've ever seen, the dresses, flowers and decoration was loud of colours. Cheerful.

I wish them a happy life ever after together and forever~ ☺
Cute couple, by the way~ ;)

So far my college life

It's been quite long time since I blogged last time.

Although I'm not actively blogging, but compare to last year or years before it, I seem to be so active now!! Ha ha

This April and May are the busiest times in my college life! Got so many assignments, competitions, seminars and articles to work on. But the good thing here to motivate us continuing is 4 months of holidays are waiting for us!! That's super cool~

Oh, I forgot to tell I'll have internship to handel as well. So far I just could think about 2 companies from the list given to us by our lecturer. The rest are not related to the fields I like or seems so far away to go and come back pretty everydays!
I can come up with my own place as well... Thinking about photography studios!!
Hmm... Let's see how I come up with the best solution till 15th this month!! ☺

Persian New Year

Hi all...

This time, this post is a little bit special~
I wanted to write in Persian, but then I thought all people from Iran know about this. So, let's share it in English for those who are not so familiar with this event.

Yes, it's about new year, Persian new year.
We celebrate the first day of Spring (March 21 in Christian Calendar) as first day of new year. The celebration takes 3-4 days, but usually there is 2 weeks holidays in Iran regarding this tradition.

It's my 3rd year of celebrating new year not in my hometown... And I gotta tell you it's totally different!... There is no "real" mood here, coz it's basically well-known in middle east; (of course my country) and some neighbor countries, which follow the same tradition.

And each year, there is a very specific time to know its the starting of new year!! for example, this year, in Iran's time, it's 02:51:00 am !

Well, in Malaysia's time, it was like 6:21 am.

Good thing happened in college.
Some thoughtful Iranian students, set the "7 siin(haft-siin)" in college to show how we celebrate new year and what we put on table . "7 siin" (haft siin هفت سین) is basically 7 objects that starts with "s" (سین siin) in my language. (More informations on Wikipedia if you are interested in: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haft-Sin :) )

So, please have a look at the lovely haft-siin in my college~ :)

~☆~Happy New Year All~☆~

Something got broke!

Well well well...

This so-called-"break-up" just happened and it's official!... I'm fine, though!

This relationship was so sweet so couldn't remain as it used to be like! And I believe nothing "good" lasts, or if it does, there might be some unpleasant changes, probably!
So, better to end it now before it gets late, and it hurts more! (Then it's harder!!) And the 2 parties won't waste their time and energy on the other one!

Facebook was always a matter!
But I didn't change anything, coz I thought it seems to be more "normal"without changing  than turning it to something "awkward"!... And I don't have anything to hide!... Well, people are different! I should respect people's privacy~ :)

Cool~
Now I'm gonna focus on something big!... (Guess this is the same way people try to follow after their sweet moments are over!) :p Yeah, I'm gonna move on!

P.S
Don't expect me to put any broken-heart pic here, that's not me!!
I'm gonna show my feeling in different ways!!
Maybe making a movie!!!!?
Doesn't it sound COOL? I mean, making a movie~~!

Promote your self??

It's been quite long time I couldn't blog!

Well, I was busy with the hardest project (so far!). However, I could learn so many new things! And even could explore new life-style! :D (I write about that later)

It was about "self-promotion" and introducing our-self in specific profession. Although I have studied Graphic Design for almost 5 years, it's not my "thing" yet! I mean, Graphic Design is a big major in art, I know, but I don't wanna stick to design as we know in layout design, book/magazine cover/pages. Yes, I may do these things as well, but I wanna focus on Photography more. Oh, and when it has the taste of Fashion... I so love it.

Next step related to this would be about going for internship!! I'm gonna come up with my own company/studio to attend the 1 month internship! Coz I heard the list that college holds is mostly related to publication!! (not my thing!!!)

The other side of Holidays

Hi, This is New Chinese Year! "Gong Xie Fa Chai"

So, as a matter of fact, we got 2 weeks holidays from college! Compare to other colleges or universities, it seems a little bit too much! yet we got lots of assignments to do! Therefore, they call it "Working Holiday"!

I don't really like holidays in between of semesters when we have works to do! I cannot do my works appropriately nor enjoying my holidays. But, I'll enjoy doing other stuffs that somehow are essential to get some knowledges.

Watching movies is one huge example. Yesterday (Thursday) was wholly filled by 3 movies. I started late on Wednesday (when it was time to celebrate Chinese New Year in Malaysia) and continued on Thursday afternoon.
3 Persian (Iranian) movies that I got to them "coincidentally" were watched online on Youtube!! And again 3 of them came with English subtitle! Cool~

First one was "Women Without Men" (zanan bedoone mardan) by Shirin Neshat.
Second one was "Men at work" (kargaran mashghoole karand) by Maani Haghighi
And lastly "ten" (dah), which was sort of docudrama or something like that by Abbas Kiarostami.

Yes, I enjoyed 3 of them and could learn a lot in some ways.

I guess I'm getting to know although my major is Graphic Design but I so love movie and film making. In other word, Film Industry.

Don't be shy!!

Hey!
This is my first post in 2011 !! Happy New Year (with some delays)
Hope everybody just started a good one and continue well. ☺

The very first serious time I used my new camera was today!
Regarding to my current project at college, I was supposed to take pictures of 2 (plus 1*) places in KL.
KL Central, KL Tower and *National Museum.

And wow!! This camera is just fantastic!! It's so comfortable to work with! I was basically in car, though.
I so hope to take better and better pictures and be more brave to use my camera in public. It's just uncomfortable still and another reason is for safety!... Yeah! I don't feel secure outside! (Maybe that's why I like studio-based work more!)

Here, just "some" of them:
*P.S The resolution is low in order to save time to upload pics here.

Don't hide yourself! Don't be shy!!

Tourists!

                                                                         Hey Mate!

Which camera should I go for??

It's been a while since I'm thinking about having a DSLR (Digital Single-Lens Reflex) and explore the new world of photography!!

I know the debate between Canon and Nikon has been on for ages, but to me it was not so hard to go for Canon. As I searched it's slightly cheaper and having a better quality in colours too!! (I appreciate Nikon as well, no doubt)

Now the hardest thing is to decide which model to choose?
So far, I'm having EOS 550D and EOS 60D as my final choices!

Besides the price gap between these 2 models, (that 60D is higher), thinking about the fact that I'm beginner in this "professional world" makes me think about 550D more!! Yet I read about some cool in-camera creative filters and the Vari-angle that makes it handy when it's time to record a video by using 60D! (both cameras share Full HD and 18 Megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor aspects in common)

The 550D got a nickname "baby 7D"... (7D is the highest in point of professionalism that I can't even think about it in this case). It is a bit smaller and lighter to carry around compare to 60D!

Well, my heart and 'pocket' are with 550D and my mind is with 60D !!!
What a hard decision...

I shall make up my mind before 2010 ends, therefore I can get 3 years guarantee for whatever product I purchase from Canon in Malaysia, KL .

On your left, you can see 550D and the last 3 on right, are 60D in different angles:

Give one, Get one !!

Finally, the fun day came!

We did celebrate Christmas and did exchange the gifts by having numbers tagged and then doing lucky-draw for each one!!...
Before that, we ordered pizzas from Domino's, 4 Xtra-Larges and 3 Regulars, it may sound BIG but it was gone just in 10 minutes I guess!! Haha... We were hungry!!
I could have 2 pieces; 1 x-tra large and 1 regular.

And here are the gifts!! Looks exciting!!

And this is my lucky-draw!! You know I could cheat with the number??
It didn't have any under line, so it was both "6" and "9" !!
But I chose 9 coz both are in green (like my top).

It's a "lucky cat-shaped strap" for having a Good Fortune!!
I hope it works well for me~ ☺

Future is Now!

I'm gonna have some words with designers. My friends, lecturers or whoever do whatever in this industry!! A design-lover.

I know, we have a nick name "tree abuser"s!!... That doesn't sound nice, of course, but it's so true.

I understand that in some ways we may not be able to really help it, like when we do poster design, business card, broachers and all that yet we say "the earth is getting to be sick, dark, abused (We even had a competition about that!)...So, why don't we do something seriously?? Why not we just use "digital ways" to present our works? (Mainly "we" here means students)

I guess some already know what I'm talking about!!
Yes, the damn sketchbook!!...

Why we have to buy them, carry them and USE them ?
Basically, it's so for Students, coz I haven't seen any professional designer or design employee to carry such a BIG, heavy A3 (normal size) sketchbook all the time to show the progress of their works!! It just sound so "unprofessional". However, I see them carrying a laptop or even maybe and iPad or other electronic devices to present their designs. For sure it's cheaper (Coz they don't need to Print, Cut and Paste), easier and more convincing.

Then, what's the point after practicing all the professional skills, manners and all good things about design but still being far from being a real designer??
(You think I'm just tired of making my sketchbook for my new project?? Nope, apparently you're wrong! Coz I'm making sketchbooks for about 1 year(I still don't understand making sketchbooks since then!!). It's just a random thought that I wanted to share here! It may change something, who knows?? ☺)

Now
To whom they may concern!
Let's make a change if we are REALLY worried for the earth and want to change the "tree abuser" to "echo-friendly-designers" or even something better (and more artistic).

For how long we're gonna say "in the future this will happen, that will happen"and talking about technologies?!! When are we suppose to use them?? We already have some great investments in this 21st century. Let's get rid of our fears!

~Future is nowhere but here! Right here, Right now~

Cheers~

How DARE I'm gonna...??

Oh Papa, Oh!!

I wonder how DARE I'm gonna bite you, papa??

You're one of the funniest memories from my childhood!

You made me feel so proud (read it arrogant (:p)) as well as angry!!!

Papa! You remember the time I was a little girl at kindergarten??
I got to know you since then.
And the best part was I could keep you in fridge, therefore I could prevent you from melting in my pink Tom&Jerry bag.
What's so special about it?? It's special coz only "me" could do it there since one of our relatives owns that kindergarten!... Other students could not do such a thing. *giggle (But honestly, I think I didn't do it more than 2 times!! Such a good girl ☺ )

So, how could I get angry out of such a beautiful, lovely, "delicious" Papa Noel ??

Well, it goes back to my brother!

But before that, let me tell you I have a habit that I keep my delicious foods to bite as last thing to make the ending memorable!! ♡ (I heard my father's grandmother was also like that!! Haha).

So,one day, my mother got me and my brother 2 Noel chocolates. My brother straightly ate his. So, I kept mine for a better time, for when I'm really craving for it. ♥

The other day, I opened the refrigerator  to get my chocolate, but the more I was looking for it, the less I could find!!... Can you guess what happened??... *sigh... Yes, my brother took mine as he thought I'm not gonna eat it!!!!! Gosh! Imagine my face at that time!!...

But never mind!
Yesterday I could see you, Papa, again after long time in market! And now I'm having you with me. But I can't make myself eating you!! How DARE I'm gonna...
